Services

SEFP was designed specifically to assist and support pregnant women who are addicted to alcohol and or other illicit drugs. Substance abuse treatment for these women means more than simply abstinence of drugs and alcohol. At SEFP it means participation in an array of specially developed services that both build a foundation for long-term recovery and improve parenting skills, social functioning and employment potential.

Program Staff form a partnership with the women and their children with a goal of creating and building a healthy future.

Services include but are limited to: assessment and diagnosis, gender specific treatment, prenatal and post partum health care, case management, psycho-education, parenting education, linkage with mental health services, life skills training, vocation and housing assistance, nursing care management, aftercare and relapse prevention, children's groups, individual and family counseling, and coordination with other community resources.

Eligibility Guidelines

SEFP serves pregnant women over the age of eighteen (18) who are addicted to alcohol and other drugs who reside in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Each woman may be accompanied by one (1) dependent child under the age of three (3).

Potential referrals should be actively enrolled in Medicaid. Assistance in determining or seeking Medicaid eligibility can be provide upon request.

Referrals May be accepted from CSB's. DSS, Health Departments, Courts, Community Corrections, Drug Court Programs, Community Health Clinics and Private physicians.
